Pedro Pascal Reportedly to Soon Begin Production on Marvel's Fantastic Four

Pedro Pascal is reportedly going to begin production on Marvel's Fantastic Four soon. On the SAG Foundation website, the actors bio points out that he will be joining the MCU vehicle in 2024. Marvel Studios has not responded to previous reporting about Pascal's casting or other roles being filled. Pascal became a hot name in conversations as rumors swirled around Adam Driver, John Krasinski and other fan-favorite actors. Interestingly, SAG Foundation is not usually how these kinds of details would be revealed. But, 2024 remains full of surprises in that regard. 

Not too long ago, Pascal was reported to have dropped out of Weapons, an upcoming horror movie that would have coincided with Fantastic Four production. Industry reporter Jeff Sneider pointed out the timelines overlapping over at his sit. Fantastic Four is speculated to be getting off the ground in the second half of 2024. Marvel Studios has not announced a cast, or anything but the involvement of director Matt Shakman at this point. Fans have spent the last few years predicting and fancasting these roles. Today is one of the biggest pieces of new information yet.

Fantastic Four Promising Something Different

Matt Shakman is the man at the controls for Marvel's Fantastic Four. He talked to Collider about the upcoming MCU adventure. During their conversation the topic of the previous Fantastic Four efforts came up. Shakman says that Marvel is doing something completely different with this reboot. A lot of expectations have been placed on this entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With such an iconic set of characters, there's an audience expectation to deliver a crowd pleaser with these pop culture mainstays.

"It's different in so many ways. I wish I could be specific," Shakman said. "I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material. I wish I could say more. I would love to, but I can't. But I think it's going to be unlike anything you've seen before, and certainly unlike anything at Marvel that you've seen before."

Fantastic Four Moving Forward In The MCU

Kevin Feige has been tasked with shepherding the MCU into the future of The Multiverse Saga. He's really excited about what they have planned for The Fantastic Four. EW talked to the Marvel Studios President at the premiere event for The Marvels. When asked about Marvel's first family, Feige couldn't reveal any specifics. But, he absolutely teased at pushing some boundaries with their MCU debut.

"Fantastic Four is the foundation for everything that came after in the comics. There's certainly been versions of it [on screen], but never inhabiting the storytelling of the MCU. And that's something that is really exciting for us," Feige explained to the outlet, before mentioning that Marvel Studios wants to establish the Fantastic Four as "a big pillar of the MCU going forward, just the way they've been in the comics for 50 or 60 years."
